Horstedpond Farm, Uckfield

Access and Transport

Vehicular access will be taken from Lewes Road via a new roundabout as shown on the masterplan, and submitted in additional detail in the format shown on the plan below. An emergency-only access will be provided along the A22. In terms of traffic impacts Castlefort Homes has engaged over a number of years with East Sussex County Council and their agents, and extensive traffic modelling has taken place to calculate vehicular movements and traffic distribution. A full transport assessment is submitted with the application, and identifies the present highway position and the manner in which this might be affected by the development, with mitigation measures that may be needed. The site access has been designed to facilitate bus access and there exists an opportunity to promote new bus connections in partnership with Brighton Buses.

Castlefort Homes are keen to promote walking and cycling across the whole of southern Uckfield centring the site on the existing network of footpaths and cycle routes and providing new opportunities for access beyond the site to create a well-connected and sustainable development.

The new housing will include car parking in the form of a mixture of garages, driveways and visitor parking, together with cycle parking, all in line with East Sussex County Council’s standards. Each new home will be provided with an electric car charging point.
